Looking for the best overlanding shops in Dubai? Discover where to buy rooftop tents, 4×4 camping accessories, portable fridges, solar power systems and essential off-road equipment.
Dubai has several shops selling camping equipment, 4×4 accessories and outdoor adventure products. However, if you’re building an overlanding setup rather than simply buying basic camping equipment, choosing a specialist retailer can make a significant difference.
Here are our recommendations:
Our top recommendation for dedicated overlanding equipment is Overland GCC Basecamp, with a 4.9/5 Google rating from 93 customer reviews. Its focus on expedition equipment, practical product advice and customer support makes it worth visiting before investing in your next overlanding setup.
If you’re serious about overlanding, rooftop camping and exploring the UAE’s deserts and mountains, Overland GCC Basecamp should be one of your first stops.
Located in Al Quoz Industrial Area 3, Dubai, Overland GCC specialises in equipment designed for extended outdoor adventures, vehicle-based camping and off-grid living.
Unlike general camping retailers, its product selection focuses on equipment that integrates with your 4×4 and makes travelling independently more comfortable.
The store offers a specialist range of overlanding and camping equipment, including:
The store represents brands including QuickPitch, Renogy, Trap Overland, Pecron, ICECO, Chicari, Vater and Outask.
One of the biggest challenges when buying overlanding equipment is knowing what actually works together.
A rooftop tent might look fantastic, but will it fit your vehicle? Will the additional height cause problems in underground parking? Is the roof rack suitable for the tent’s weight? Will your portable power station run your fridge throughout a hot UAE summer?
These are the practical questions that matter.
Overland GCC takes a consultative approach, helping customers consider their vehicle, intended use, budget and specific requirements before choosing equipment.
The company also explains that its products are tested and used by its own team, drawing on real-world camping and overlanding experience.
Overland GCC Basecamp currently holds a 4.9/5 Google rating from 93 reviews.
Customer feedback highlights several recurring strengths:
One customer described the service as exceptional, highlighting how the team answered their questions and took the time to understand their requirements.
Another customer, purchasing a rooftop tent for a Nissan X-Terra, praised its slim profile, comfort and suitability for UAE driving conditions.
These are particularly relevant considerations for UAE overlanders, where vehicle height, roof loads, desert driving and underground parking can influence purchasing decisions.

The best retailer depends on what you’re trying to achieve. A general camping shop may be ideal for buying chairs and sleeping bags, whereas a specialist overlanding retailer can help you select equipment that works together as a complete vehicle-based system.
Buying overlanding equipment can become expensive, particularly when you’re preparing a vehicle for extended trips across the UAE, Oman or Saudi Arabia.
Before purchasing anything, consider the following.
Make sure your equipment is suitable for your vehicle.
For rooftop tents, check roof load limits, mounting arrangements, overall vehicle height and the effect of additional weight on handling.
Equipment designed for cooler European conditions may not always be suitable for the UAE.
Consider:
If you’re planning to run a fridge, lights, communication equipment and other accessories, consider your electrical requirements carefully.
A properly sized portable power station or auxiliary battery system, supported by suitable solar charging, can make a significant difference to your time off-grid.
Every additional kilogram matters when travelling off-road.
Avoid unnecessarily heavy equipment, particularly when mounting accessories on the roof of your vehicle.
Think about how everything will be stored, secured and accessed during your trip.
Overlanding equipment is often used in demanding environments.
Before purchasing, understand the warranty, availability of replacement parts, technical support and after-sales arrangements.
A slightly cheaper product may not represent good value if you cannot obtain support when something goes wrong.
Overlanding is different from ordinary camping.
Your equipment needs to work together as a complete system. Your rooftop tent, awning, fridge, power supply, solar panels and vehicle storage all need to suit your particular vehicle and travelling requirements.
An experienced specialist can help you avoid common mistakes, including:
This is where specialist advice can save both time and money.
At Overland GCC, the focus is not simply on selling individual products. It is about helping customers select practical, reliable equipment for their adventures.
Dubai has plenty of retailers selling camping equipment and 4×4 accessories, but choosing the right shop depends on the type of adventure you’re planning.
For general camping equipment, retailers such as Adventure HQ offer plenty of choice. For vehicle modifications, suspension and recovery equipment, ARB, OffRoad-Zone and Ironman 4×4 are worth considering.
However, if you’re looking for dedicated overlanding equipment, including rooftop tents, vehicle awnings, portable fridges, power stations, solar systems and camping accessories, Overland GCC Basecamp is our recommended starting point.
With a specialist product range, practical overlanding experience and a 4.9/5 Google customer rating, it offers a combination of equipment and personal guidance that is particularly valuable when planning a complete overlanding setup.
Whether you’re preparing your first weekend camping trip to Al Qudra, planning an expedition into the Empty Quarter or travelling across Oman, having the right equipment makes all the difference.
